Donate to help the mission of The People’s Kitchen of SLO

A one-time, monthly, or yearly donation will help us feed the hungry of San Luis Obispo. We are an entirely volunteer organization, so all donations will go toward food and supplies that enable our serving groups to serve a noontime meal every day of the year.

If you are age 70 1/2 (or older), you can make a gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to People's Kitchen. A direct gift from your IRA to a non-profit is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).  These direct gifts/QCDs are considered non-taxable income, so it is important to let your tax preparer know that you made these gifts/QCDs.  QCDs can be made by contacting your IRA custodian (e.g. Schwab, Fidelity, etc.).

If you have reached Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) age, QCDs reduce the RMD amount dollar for dollar, which will reduce your taxable income.  QCDs could help reduce the amount of your Social Security benefits subject to income taxes and potentially reduce or prevent Medicare premium surcharges. We are not financial or tax advisors. Please consult your own qualified advisor before making IRA charitable contributions.

Any donation is appreciated, is tax deductible and will go directly toward serving our community by feeding a noontime meal to anyone who needs it every day of the year.

Thank You

Our donors make a difference in our ability to serve our community. Any amount will help us keep serving food to the hungry each and every day!
